The Drs: Man Drank 10 Sodas A Day For 30 Days
The Doctors kicked off their show talking about health-related viral videos. They started with a man who explained that he drank 10 sodas a day for 30 days to draw attention to the health dangers of sugar. The man explained that the amount of soda that’s in three sodas is not much more than the average amount of sugar Americans consume every single day. He said he’s a healthy guy, so for him to make the change, it would provide a very clear example of what sugar can do to you.

Every morning he weighed himself, tested his blood glucose level, and his blood pressure, as well as taking a body fat analysis. He said the first thing he noticed was that it wasn’t that hard to drink the soda, and he actually got a “buzz” from it. But by day nine, he wasn’t feeling well, and within a couple weeks he actually developed a craving for more soda. On the 31st day, he threw out the rest of the soda and hasn’t had another one since.
The Drs: Health Effects Of Too Much Sugar
His name is George and he was on the show, explaining that he gained 23 pounds and his body fat increased by 65%. His blood pressure went up by 20 points and it affected his fasting blood glucose levels.
George explained that he kept every other factor the same, eating the same diet with the same level of activity. The Doctors pointed out that it can go the other way too if you cut out soda. Dr Jennifer Ashton pointed out how George’s skin changed as well. George said the point of his experiment was to point out the worst epidemic the United States has ever suffered. He said we’re spending trillions of dollars and individuals are suffering because of eating sugar and carbohydrates.
The Drs: Soda Health Warning
Dr Rachael Ross said even if it says it has vitamins in it or will give you a boost, soda is never actually going to make you feel better, perform better, or act better. Dr Ashton said your body contains a lot of water, not soda.
When George went off the soda, for the first few days he had no appetite, had headaches, and didn’t feel well in general, but within two days he felt better and has since lost 18 pounds in a few weeks. Dr Travis Stork said if you’ve been waiting, make today the day you cut out soda. Don’t drink your calories!
