The Doctors welcomed Keri Glassman to the show to share her tricks for satisfying your cravings without wrecking your diet. For all those who have moments when they crave a stiff drink, she had a healthier option for them. She said if you don’t drink, you shouldn’t start drinking, but if you already do, then know there are healthier ways to do so. She said one drink a day for women and two for men is considered moderation.
The Drs: Why Choose Tequila?
Glassman said tequila in particular has actually shown to help people with diabetes lower their blood sugar and obese people even lose weight. Dr Jennifer Ashton said there was a study done in Mexico, but it wasn’t all tequila, it was the agave base in margaritas.
Dr Travis Stork wanted to make it clear that they’re not promoting you go home and do shots of tequila. They’re just saying that there are better options than drinking a sugar-loaded, unhealthy alcoholic beverage.
The Drs: Avoid Fat-Free Sweets & Indulge
For those who are desperately craving sweets, Keri said too often we go for the fat-free and sugar-free versions of sweets thinking they’re better for us. But it ends up not tasting good, causing us to only eat more. She said all those chemicals are incredible unhealthy for you.
Keri explained that you should go ahead and enjoy the real stuff. Dr Stork then proceeded to give Dr Ashton a bite of the ice cream, to which she said she felt like she was in a dream because she had Keri telling her she could drink tequila, and Dr Stork feeding her ice cream. She also exclaimed that she couldn’t believe that was her job! So funny, but so true!
Dr Stork said to choose real ice cream, saying the fewer alterations, the better. He said you’re going to have cravings, so occasionally giving in is okay! “That’s life!”
