Dr Oz: HealthCorp & Promoting A Healthy Lifestyle
Dr Oz admitted he’s obsessed with changing the health of the next generation. He loves seeing others doing the same. At the heart of HealthCorps, the nonprofit he and his wife Lisa created, there are coordinators who dedicate two years to teaching youth the importance of health and wellness. So far, nearly two million students have been impacted. It’s these coordinators that inspire high school students every day and continue to work by becoming activists in their own communities.
Dr Oz: Young People Helping Young People Get Healthy
In 2003, HealthCorp was created to inspire young people to take charge of their health and the health of their communities. HealthCorp is now all across the country, as coordinators work in high-need schools. Coordinators are recent college graduates that dedicate two years to the organization.

According to one coordinator out of Cleveland, Jasmyne, the program taught her patience, determination, and resilience. Natalie, a coordinator from Anderson, California shared that she loves to watch a student try a fruit or vegetable for the very first time. Anthony, a coordinator from Crescent City, California, shared that HealthCorp aligns with his own core beliefs and he loves being able to plant those seeds in high schools where it’s important for teenagers to make positive changes in their life.
Dr Oz: HealthCorp Coordinators Encouraging A Healthier Generation
HealthCorp coordinators empowers students to become future health leaders in their communities. Coordinators like Ryan and Camille are beginning to make their mark in the medical community. Ryan is now a third-year medical student at the University of Oklahoma City. Camille is now a second-year MPH student at UNC Chapel Hill. UNC liked the work Camille did with HealthCorp so much that they gave her a full scholarship as a Master’s student!
Ryan and Camille then joined Dr Oz on his show, to share that for them, it’s all about modeling good health behaviors, especially within family units. Ryan believes a great start is to connect kids with their passions then combine them with their health, so that they can make decisions based on what they love. Then they’re deciding to be healthy because they love what it involves.
Dr Oz: Four Parts Of HealthCorp Curriculum
