One Direction Takes Over Today Show
One Direction has had fans lining city blocks in New York City for an entire week. Girls dragged their dads and moms out to see Harry, Niall, Louis, Zayn, and Liam. They’ve been sleeping on the sidewalk and screaming like there’s no tomorrow. This will be One Direction’s third appearance on The Today Show.
Think about your favorite boy band. You would camp out for them! It’s genetically ingrained in me to stop what I’m doing when Backstreet Boys come on. One of the items I would grab in a fire would be my Justin Timberlake No Strings Attached marionette collectors doll. Throughout musical history, women have fallen for a guy with a good set of pipes and gyrating hips. Elvis had the ladies swooning and The Beatles caused riots.

18,000 One Direction Fans in Rockefeller Plaza
One Direction got their start on Simon Cowell’s British X Factor. They originally competed as solo acts, but they were grouped together and placed third in the competition. Nevertheless, Simon Cowell signed the boys and the rest has been a worldwide riot for the boys in skinny jeans from across the pond.
Directioners, as the fans call themselves, held signs in the Plaza this morning, begging for Harry Styles’ hand in marriage. There were 15,000 people at the last Today Show One Direction event. Today, police estimate there are over 18,000 Directioners out for the concert.
BaracksDubs Has President Barack Obama Singing “Call Me Maybe”
As much as I love a good top 40 hit, having President Barack Obama sing it makes it just laughable. BaracksDubs, a YouTube channel, has taken the President’s speeches and picked out the right words to have him singing Daft Punks “Up All Night To Get Lucky” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” among other popular tunes.
Thadi Sali is a medical administration major at the University of Tennessee. He said that people usually ask him if he has too much time on his hands. His idea came to him where all good ideas strike us: in the shower. He then learned to edit audio and video clips in his dorm room and had his first hit with Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Sali said that he can get a video done in three days, if he stays up all night.
Today Show Sings One Direction’s “Best Song Ever”
Sali’s new assignment was to take a week’s worth of Today Show clips and get a music video from them. They sang “Best Song Ever” by One Direction and he had to go all the way back to Thanksgiving 2012 to get a clip of Matt Lauer dancing.
