GMA: Stars Without Makeup
Every once in a while, stars like to make the statement that they are just like the rest of us. Jessica Simpson was in Marie Claire without makeup and minimal airbrushing, Claire Danes and Zooey Deschanel did the same for People and the new issue of W has many of the biggest women in Hollywood going au natural. Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Amy Adams, Kristen Stewart and Emma Stone are all baring their faces for the cameras.
GMA: The Beauty Experiment
The Beauty Experiment is the journey of Phoebe Baker Hyde. She was obsessed with fashion, styling, hair care and makeup, but decided to put it all away for a year. She cut off her hair, stopped buying makeup and made do with what was in her closet. She wanted to learn to love herself and not worry about appearance.
Katie Couric was so impressed by Hyde’s project that she decided to go without makeup for an hour of television. Good Morning America did the same to show the drastic difference that thick television makeup makes.
GMA: Dermatologist Skin Care Advice
Dermatologists recommend going at least one day a week without makeup. This will make your skin look and feel better. You should also remember to take off all of your makeup before going to bed at night.
The effects of makeup on your face can be devastating over time. Foundation blocks pores, causing breakouts if not completely removed. Eyeshadow causes redness and rashes. Dark lipstick can cause cysts over time.
Going without makeup can be a scary thing. You can feel naked and vulnerable, but there are options out there for makeup that won’t destroy your skin. It’s a good idea to research the brand of makeup you buy and use to make sure that it is gentle on your skin type.
