Today Show: August 25 2014
The “Today’s News” hour of The Today Show had a lot to talk about on August 25 2014. Natalie Morales was away on vacation for the week, and Al Roker was on LA covering the VMAs and the Emmys, so it was really up to Willie and Tamron, though Al did talk with them for part of the hour. And this hour really ran the gamut. They covered everything from the VMAs and Emmy predictions to health myths, recipes, and how to get back into the swing of things now that it’s nearly back to school time. It was a very busy yet very interesting hour.
Today Show: VMAs + News
The hosts started the hour by talking about the VMAs, which were last night. They were particularly into talking about Beyoncé and how adorable Blue Ivy was, Nicki Minaj, Jessie J, and Katy Perry and Riff Raff’s outfit. They also talked about some news including a bomb scare on a plane that seemed to be directed towards Sony, the earthquake in California, and how car seats have more germs than toilets.
Today Show: Dr. Roshini Raj Health Myths
They then had Dr. Roshini Raj come by the show to sit down and debunk some common health myths. I was particularly happy to hear that I can eat late now and that I can make up missed sleep. You can also exercise at a high intensity for smaller periods of time and you can eat eggs.
Today Show: News
The hosts continued with some more news stories including the fact that the American Academy of Pediatrics said that teenagers should start school later Guardians of the Galaxy is doing incredibly well and will be the movie of the summer, and a man celebrated a goal in hockey by sliding on the ice on his head.
Today Show: Ereaders + Emmy Predictions
The hosts then debate about ereaders versus real books, but only Tamron liked ereaders. People who use ereaders actually have more trouble remembering things. They also compared their Emmy predictions with the USA Today Emmy predictions and had some pretty diverse answers.
Today Show: Claire Thomas Recipes
Claire Thomas came by to share some awesome dessert recipes with the hosts. She shared a smeach recipe, which is a smore with a peach, a pineapple chili pop recipe, which I thought looked particularly good, and a pig candy recipe, which is bacon, sugar, and spice.
Today Show: Meredith Sinclair School Tips
Finally, Meredith Sinclair came by to share some school tips for your kid since it’s time to transition from summer back to the regular school schedule. She went through everything from getting up in the morning to getting home and doing homework, to some snack ideas. She really covered it all.
