Today: Sibling Rivalries + Man Snaps Finger Off 15th Century Statue

Today Show: Sibling Rivalries Intensified By Father Choosing Side?

When it comes to sibling rivalries, a study recently published in the Associated Press says that, with adult children, whenever the father is perceived to have chosen a side, sibling rivalries are intensified, especially among daughters.  If the mother chooses a side, it doesn’t raise the tension. A theory is that this tension is derived from the fact that men have a lower life expectancy then women do, so that adult children come to value their fathers even more, realizing that their time with their fathers could be limited.

According to a study, sibling rivalries are intensified when the father chooses a side.

According to the Pew Research Center in a survey, 56 percent of people would not want to live to be age 120 because it would be bad for society. According to the study, the ideal age for people to live to is 90. That’s not too much of a stretch, since children born in today’s society are expected to live to at least 79.

Today Show: Missouri Man Snaps Finger Off 15th Century Statue In Italy

Americans don’t exactly have a very good reputation as tourists, and a Missouri man in that was travelling in Italy just gave that reputation another black eye, when he snapped the finger off of a 600-year-old statue. One Italian paper says the man was trying to compare hand sizes with the statue of the Virgin Mary. The priceless work in Florence dates back to the 15th century. The tourist has apologized, but may still receive a large fine.

Today: Water Bottle Man Redeems Himself

Earlier in the week, a video was posted showing a muscular man at a baseball game that couldn’t seem to get a bottle of water open. He’s been the brunt of quite a few jokes on the Internet, and came on the show to try and dispel some of those insults. A security guard approached him, asking him to help open a water bottle. He obliged, but ended up wrestling with the bottle for minutes on end. When he gave up and sat back down, he got a call from a friend, asking him what his problem with the water bottle was. He redeemed himself on the show today, when he opened a bottle of water for the crew.
