Today Show: Walk-In Clinics
The Today Show talked about the growing trend of the walk-in clinic. Their correspondent Peter Alexander had the story. Walk-in clinics are on the rise because of their short wait time and lower cost. CVS has over 800 Minute Clinics throughout the U.S. and Walgreens expanded its health care clinics to add shots, physicals, and other preventative care. Consumers are looking for easier access to high-quality affordable health care and hoping for convenient and quick trips.

73 percent of Americans can’t easily access medical care on a night, weekend, or holiday without going to the ER. Walk-in clinics help fill that void.
Today Show: What You Should Know Before Visiting A Walk-In Clinic
There’s several things you should consider before going to a walk-in clinic:
- Know your medications and allergies.
- Make sure you don’t need a specialist and that what you’re looking for is routine care.
- Keep records for your primary care physician.
- Don’t feel pressured to use the on-site pharmacy.
- Don’t be afraid to walk out if it doesn’t feel right.
Going to a walk-in clinic on a regular basis might cause you to miss out on the relationship with a regular physician, which could help you get complex issues addressed and better preventative care.
