Today Show: Miley Cyrus VMA Controversy
On the Today Show, they began their What’s Trending? segment with the controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus and her surprise guest at the VMAs. Miley Cyrus was already skirting controversy with her decision to allow a homeless 22-year-old man accept her VMA on her behalf and make a speech, but now it’s revealed that the homeless man is wanted by police in Oregon for probation violation, which stems from previous charges including criminal trespassing and criminal mischief.

Is Full House returning to TV? John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse on the show, is leading the charge to bring the show back to TV and he’s gotten a number of his co-stars to agree to come back. (Debby Wong / Shutterstock.com)
Miley Cyrus defended him on Twitter, saying, “People who are homeless have lived very hard lives. Jesse included.”
Today: Greatest Guitar Riffs of All Time
Another controversy surrounds a new list out this morning of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” tops the list, with Guns & Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine” and AC/DC’s “Back in Black” also in the top three. Matt Lauer said he thought The Eagles’ “Hotel California” should be in there and Al Roker said that none of any of their music would be possible without Chuck Berry.
Today: Full House Returning?
TV Guide is reporting this morning that the beloved ’90s sitcom Full House may be returning to TV. John Stamos is leading the charge. He owns a stake in the show and he’s gotten a number of his former cast mates on board. Reports say Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are unlikely to return, however, as they’re more focused on their fashion empire.
“But they need the twins,” Tamron Hall said.
“They can get new twins,” Al Roker said.
“There’s twins everywhere,” Matt Lauer joked.
Al Roker said that this time around, the twins will be guys. Obviously all of these people are forgetting the other set of twins on the show, Uncle Jesse’s kids. I wonder if they’ll be coming back?
Today: Queen’s Guard Makes Faces
I guess there’s lots of changes in the U.K. this year. First, Today reported that the iconic red phone booths in London are on their way out and now, a member of the famously stoic and expressionless Queen’s Guard was caught on video making faces and sticking out his tongue.
