Today: Pumpkin Spice Lattes Are Back
Now I don’t know about you, but this next bit of news made my day. Pumpkin spice lattes are back! It may still be summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little taste of fall.
The Starbucks coffee drink with a cult following has made its return, making many people, myself included, very happy. The drinks are normally not available until September, but Starbucks decided to make the drink available early. Of course there’s a catch. In order to get the drink, you have to unlock the code. The code is given out on the pumpkin spice latte’s Twitter page. They went ahead and shared the code: Scarf.
Not everyone may be excited about its return, though. Al Roker himself couldn’t care less! He said, “I don’t think there’s a lot of pumpkins being killed for this stuff.” But come on Al, even if it’s not “real pumpkin” that doesn’t mean it’s not delicious!

Tamron Hall said she was having a moment when she realized how much she truly loved her job. She said you could tell how authentic they were by how excited and happy she was about the drink, while Al was totally annoyed by it. “You cannot script that,” she said.
Today Show: Emmy Winners Jim Parsons & Jessica Lange
Al Roker got a chance to sit down with some big winners from the 2014 Emmy Awards.
Jim Parsons won the award for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, for the fourth time. Jim Parsons shared that he loved his character on Big Bang Theory, Sheldon, from the moment he first read him. He said he loved the way he was written and he loves the way he talks. “I just felt a connection to it,” he said. Al Roker asked him if he was tired of Sheldon, and he said, “Oh God no!” He said it’s the writing that makes it so great to play Sheldon.
Jessica Lange won the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a miniseries, and she said she was genuinely more surprised by winning than she had ever been surprised by anything ever. “We are very fortunate to be working in the medium now,” she said.
Today: “Modern Family” & Allison Janney Emmys
Modern Family won yet again, and Al Roker asked them what it was about them that made people love them. Jesse Tyler Ferguson said “well we’re really attractive.”
Actress Allison Janney won her sixth Emmy and said it was a huge honor and that it makes her feel like she has to stop doubting herself.
Today Show: Emmy Award Winners “Breaking Bad” & Sarah Silverman
Breaking Bad also took home a slew of awards and the cast admitted that they were in shock at their success. Bryan Cranston said it was such a huge difference from where it started to where they began. He said no one knew who they were or what they were doing in the middle of the desert. They admitted they didn’t even expect a single Emmy, let alone two. They said it felt like a dream come true.
Al Roker then sat down with Sarah Silverman, who also took home an Emmy. Al asked her if she knew her name was going to be called, and she admitted that there was a part of her that knew she wasn’t going to win, but then right before the name is called she thought “maybe I am going to win.”
Al Roker also gave kudos to Seth Meyers for a great job as host.
