The Today Show discussed What’s Trending this morning, starting with the video a journalist took of Secretary of State John Kerry during a news conference in Poland. John Kerry is sitting with his eyes closed for a long time. Is he really sleeping? John Kerry tweeted that it was just “a really long blink.” Today showed a lot of other “really long blinks” from politicians in past years, including Joe Biden, Dick Cheney, Bill Clinton, and John McCain.

New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd had a strange experience recently. The Pulitzer-Prize Winner was covering legalized marijuana in Colorado when she sampled a bit of a marijuana candy bar. She didn’t feel anything, so she had some more. That’s where things got weird.
She said: “I felt a scary shudder go through my body and brain. I barely made it from the desk to the bed, where I lay curled up in a hallucinatory state for the next eight hours. As my paranoia deepened, I became convinced that I had died and no one was telling me.”
It turns out that she had taken 16 times the recommended dosage of that candy bar. Carson Daly said he had one experience in college. He said you’re just supposed to wait for it before you have any more. “”That’s what I’ve read,” he said.

How early should you get to the airport? A math professor at the University of Wisconsin at Madison is saying you should forget everything you’ve heard and go the airport right before your flight. Jorden Ellenberg says, “If you’ve never missed a flight, you’re not doing it right.”
Every hour you spend waiting for a flight at the airport or the duty free shop is an hour of your life wasted. Over the course of a lifetime, those hours add up. Matt Lauer said he swears by this and shows up for his flight just a half hour or forty five minutes before the flight. Savannah Guthrie said she likes to get there early and read a magazine or call her mom.
