Today Show: Guy Fieri Guy’s Place & New Book Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
Willie Geist, Natalie Morales, Weekend Today’s Dylan Dreyer and The Food Network’s Guy Fieri all sat down for the Take 3 on Today May 15 2013. And the Take 3 was interesting again! This week’s Take 3’s are far better than last week’s lame ones. Guy Fieri’s new book Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives just came out and he said his new restaurant Guy’s Place in Times Square is doing really well. He seemed really excited to be on Today. Dylan Dreyer said she thought his show was really addicting and once she starts watching, she has to watch a few more. Guy Fieri said that when he catches it on TV, it just makes him hungry.
Kitchen Nightmare Goes Viral
The second Take was about a restaurant called Amy’s Baking Company in Arizona, featured on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Gordon Ramsay’s show’s premise is that he goes to a new restaurant every week and tries to help them become a better restaurant. But this episode was the first time in the history of the show that Gordon Ramsay said it was beyond helping. They fired a member of the waitstaff during the show, they take tips away from their waitstaff, they take it personally when food is taken back and they’ll run out customers if they don’t like them. The chef Amy and her husband Samy have taken to Facebook to criticize the people who have criticized them. But now they’re saying that their Facebook was hacked, which Willie Geist said he didn’t believe because of how they came off on the show. Guy Fieri said he’s a chef and restaurant owner first and he said it’s a tough business. He said he was completely in awe of what happened. He added that in Scotsdale, Arizona where the restaurant is located, there are a lot of other great restaurants.
One In 10 People Hate Their Names
A new study has revealed that just over one in 10 people polled don’t like their first name and three percent say they hate their name. Guy Fieri said that when he was younger, he didn’t like his name and would have preferred Steve. But he said his mom pointed out to him that it’s really easy to sign his name in autographs now. He also said he thought that all of the anchors have cool names.
Dylan Dryer said that when she was growing up, Dylan wasn’t very common. But then a lot of boys started being named Dylan and she said it got even weirder. She said when she signs her name, she makes sure to include her middle name Marie so they know she’s a woman.
Natalie Morales said she was named after Natalie Wood because her dad had a huge crush on her. She said her mom even looks a little like Natalie Wood. Willie Geist said when he got to college, he wanted to be called Will. But it only lasted a month before everyone started calling him Willie again. Guy Fieri said he didn’t understand that, because Willie sounded like the name of a cool guy you call to hang out with.
