Today Show: Angelina Jolie Loses Aunt, Debbie Martin, To Breast Cancer
Angelina Jolie, who announced that she had gotten a double mastectomy a few weeks ago as a preventative measure against breast cancer, lost her aunt, Debbie Martin, to breast cancer over the weekend. Debbie Martin was age 61. She was the sister of Jolie’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand.
Jolie’s uncle, Ron, said that Debbie was very proud of her for taking the measures that she did to fight back against her defective BRCA 1 gene.
Angelina Jolie plans to undergo more procedures to remove her ovaries, further diminishing her chances.
