Today Show: Kate Middleton Birth Watch
The great Kate Middleton birth watch is in full effect, and everyone, even Prince William‘s stepmother, the Duchess of Cornwall, is taking guesses as to when the baby is being born. Some may say that this waiting game began three years ago, when William and Kate announced their engagement. This wait only became more tense when Kate’s pregnancy was announced last December.
Today: Royal Photographer Arthur Edwards
Longtime royal photographer Arthur Edwards knows this waiting game better than anyone. Arthur camped out for both Prince William and Prince Harry’s birth. He has been hearing whispers from the palace that the birth could take place next week. “You never know,” he said.
The press is camped out, staking their claims to prime spots around the hospital. Ladders and other risers line the streets, where an eager press will surely be standing to get a shot of the baby when it is ushered out of the hospital. Souvenir websites can’t sell any of their wares yet because they need to wait until they can get the gender and name of the baby to put on commemorative mugs and sweaters.
Today Show: People Camping Out In Anticipation Of Birth
To be honest, many people just want it to happen, already. People are milling around the hospital and palace, hoping they will be around when the baby’s birth is announced. Some may be acting like they hate all of the anticipation and the waiting, but as one passerby said, “I think everyone likes to pretend they’re sick of it, but secretly, we kind of love it.”
Even when the baby does start coming, we will have to wait for Kate while she is in labor, but that hasn’t made people any less excited.
