The Package Tour: New Kids On The Block, 98 Degrees, Boyz II Men Perform
It was a boy band blowout on Today Show May 31 2013, perhaps in honor of yesterday’s appearance of The Wanted. New Kids On The Block, 98 Degrees, and Boyz 2 Men came on the show to give us performances and show The Wanted what a veteran boy band looks like.
The three bands got together for a brief interview with Matt Lauer to talk about “The Package Tour,” which is taking place this summer. No one really took full credit for the idea, attributing it mostly to the relationship between the three bands. No one really wanted to get into why they called it “The Package Tour,” either, which perhaps speaks to the mindset that many boy bands make music with.
The three bands are looking forward to going on the road together, and don’t see any egos getting in the way of making The Package Tour a great event.
Today Show: New Kids On The Block Perform “Step By Step”
Apparently, most crowd in Rockefeller Plaza was composed of either ’80s kids or a new wave of New Kids On The Block fans, because during the energetic performance, the crowd was singing right along with the kids. Their voices still sounded pretty great and had no problems hitting the high notes. It looks like New Kids On The Block haven’t missed a beat since they were a big thing.
Today Show: 98 Degrees Perform “The Hardest Thing”
Nick Lachey noted during the interview that even though 98 Degrees hadn’t performed together in 12 years, everything clicked when they got back together, and it showed. Like New Kids On The Block, all of their voices seemed to have stayed intact.
Today Show: Boyz II Men Perform “Motownphilly”
Boyz II Men definitely had the most energetic performance and brought the most swagger to stage while performing their song “Motownphilly.” They had plenty of dance moves, got the crowd involved with plenty of shouting and cheering, and just in general sounded the most enthusiastic. Will New Kids On The Block and 98 Degrees be able to keep up on The Package Tour?
