Today Show: Zach Galifianakis Reprises Role Of Alan
Zach Galifianakis, who plays the…quirky but lovable Allen from the Hangover series of movies, will be reprising the role for the third installment: The Hangover Part 3.
The story goes something like this: Alan has been off his medications for six months, and the crew is starting to get concerned over his strange behavior so they stage an intervention and try to take him to an institute. Has Zach ever been part of an intervention? Well, there was this one time that Zach called his parents and asked for one…not really, though.
The Hangover Part 3 Review
When The Hangover hit theaters in 2009, it really didn’t seem like something that could be done twice, let alone three times. Even though Zach Galifianakis and the crew had their doubts that the audience would still be interested in another Hangover movie, he believes that it turned out very well.
Zach Galifianakis As Alan In The Hangover
Zach Galifianakis says that though he doesn’t know anyone in his real life that bears any resemblance to the character he plays in The Hangover Part 3, he does enjoy playing the part. One of the things that he finds the funniest is when a person totally lacks any semblance of self awareness. He finds it a lot of fun to play someone who is utterly oblivious to the effect that the things he says have on anyone. “Unfortunately,” Zach said, “it’s really easy for me to play.”
Zach Galifianakis: The Hangover Part 3 Cast
Now that this is their third time around playing these characters as a team, Zach Galifianakis and crew now experience a very positive chemistry with each other almost immediately.
“It’s like riding a bike, kind of…well, a unicycle,” Zach said.
Since the crew has been keeping in touch over the years as the series has pressed on, with them having friendships off the camera as well, it is really easy for them to get back into the swing of things now.
Zach Galifianakis Fan Questions
Zach Galifianakis answered a few fan questions on his role as Alan. The first question asked whether or not any of the situations from The Hangover movies have ever happened to him in reality. Sadly, or happily, depending on your perspective, he has never experienced anything that has gone on in any of the movies while not on set.
