She’s now starring as a “somewhat neurotic and judgmental mom” in the new film Last Weekend. It’s when an unexpected group of house guests join her family in their home, that the tension starts to rise.
When talking about her character, Celia, Patricia Clarkson said “she’s dysfunctional, unfortunately, but that’s where the tension and the drama and the comedy come from. She’s a woman who’s had everything and still realizes she is longing for love of her children.”
“It’s a funny, witty complicated film,” Patricia Clarkson said about Last Weekend. “But it takes you on a great journey.”
Today: Patricia Clarkson On Working With Young Actors
Al Roker joked that there were a lot of “youngsters” in the film, and Patricia laughed and said she’s always working with young people. She laughed and said she was unsure if working with them helped keep her young.
She was then asked if any of the younger actors look to her for advice and she said, “yes, of course they look to me and I say, ‘don’t look, look away!'”
She said she’s thrilled because she’s played a lot of “young, fabulous youngsters’ mothers.” She said the younger actors she’s worked with are “incredibly talented” and said there was a wonderful group of young actors in the movie. “Up and coming and hot, hot, hot,” she said.
Today Show: Patricia Clarkson “Mother Lover” With Andy Samberg & Justin Timberlake
Willie Geist pointed out that a lot of people got to know her in another way, through a little film she did with Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake. He said they couldn’t really get into the lyrics but it’s called “Mother Lover.”
Patricia said when she first got the phone call about the video, she wanted to know if she kept her clothes on for it as well as what else she had to do with the young men. “Nothing I’m not up for,” she laughed.
