Today Show: Ariana Grande “Problem” Performance
Pop star Ariana Grande has two of the hottest songs of the summer and her new album My Everything is number 1 in over 80 countries. Now, she came by the Today Show to perform her song “Problem“. The performance was a little awkward, because Iggy Azalea is featured on the song. Her vocals were played, but she wasn’t there, leaving Ariana Grande with an awkward verse to just dance around like a little kid while Iggy rapped through the speakers.
In any case, it’s obvious Ariana Grande is a professional. Her voice is impeccable. She’s one of those singers, as the cliche goes, that could sing the phone book and it would still be pleasant to hear. I don’t really get the point of her weird dancing, though, but she seems very confident in what she’s doing even if it’s basically just walking with a purpose or shaking in one place like a toddler.
Today Show: Ariana Grande’s Favorite Artists
In an interview segment in between her two sets, Tamron Hall asked Ariana Grande who she would have stood out to see in a huge concert when she was 15 or 14 years old. She said Imogen Heap, Madonna, and Whitney Houston. She would have slept on Fifth Avenue for that, just like the fans who did that just to see her perform.
She said she loved her fans and she appreciated it. She said that it’s a great experience. When Tamron asked her how she kept her energy up, she said she had no idea because she hadn’t slept in a long while.
Today Show: Ariana Grande “Break Free” & “Bang Bang” Performace
Ariana Grande performed her song “Break Free“, which is her new single from the album. In this song, Ariana Grande gave her goofy dance moves a rest for the most part, giving the dancers around her to do most of the work, at least in the beginning. This gave the vocals a nice sincerity that was refreshing. Ariana Grande also performed a greatly shortened version of “Bang Bang“.
Ultimately, I think it’s clear Ariana Grande is a talented young artist that’s here for a long while. Even if you don’t like her music (and even if she can’t dance) there’s something about Ariana Grande that’s just likable.
