Today Show: Big Performances
British girl band Little Mix was on the Today Show to perform their new music and talk about where they get inspiration. Plus, Dave Chappelle has some upcoming performances at Radio City.
Today: Little Mix Performance
Little Mix is the latest British girl band. The four women met as solo artists on The X-Factor UK, and later formed a group that won the competition. Little Mix has had 350 million YouTube views, 5 million record sales, and 8 million Facebook fans.
The first song they performed was “Wings.” The performance was very fun, with dance routines and a lot of energy. Fans of Little Mix stayed on the Plaza overnight to see the performance.
Little Mix is launching an American tour for their album Salute. They wanted to make music that inspired their young fans, so they write a lot about independence.
Little Mix also performed their song “Salute.” This song was full of girl power, and reminded me a lot of Destiny’s Child in the early 2000s. I wonder if Little Mix will see that same kind of success. Regardless, they definitely seemed to be having fun on the Today Show.
Today Show: Dave Chappelle Drops In
Dave Chappelle will be a new neighbor of the Today Show. Dave Chappelle is going to Radio City Music Hall, and sold out five concerts in five minutes.
Dave Chappelle opened for Aretha Franklin about ten years ago at Radio City, and she will be performing the night before he starts his performances, which makes him feel like things are coming full circle.
Half way through the segment on the Today Show, Dave Chappelle asked if they were on TV, and when he found out that they were, he commented that he thought this had just been a run-through. Dave Chappelle also said that he had a great Father’s Day with all his children in New York.
You can catch Dave Chappelle at Radio City June 18 2014-June 26 2014.
