Today Show: Fall Out Boy + Men’s Summer Trends
Can the Today Show guys get away with masculine summer trends? Also, a performance from Fall Out Boy. Find out what Pete Wentz thinks of Matt Lauer’s short suit.
Today: Men’s Summer Fashion Trends
Today style editor Bobbie Thomas was on the Today Show to talk about summer trends in men’s fashions, including the short suits, sneakers, and rolled up pants, and whether or not a regular guy can get away with wearing them. She said these trends are opportunities for men to show off their personalities.
The first trend, rolled up pants, was set by Pit Bull at the Opening Ceremony of the World Cup. Willie Geist attempted to pull off this look, and he said he didn’t feel like her could do it. He wore white pants from Zara with a pair of white loafers, and Bobbie Thomas said she thought he looked great.
Today Show: Men’s Short Suit & Sneakers Trend
The next trend is the short suit. Pharrell set this trend at the 2014 Oscars, and Matt Lauer tried it out. Apparently, Pharrell approached Matt Lauer at a party in the Hamptons and was wearing a short suit, and Matt Lauer really liked the look, but he said he doesn’t think he looks quite as great. Bobbie Thomas said she thinks Matt Lauer was wearing the look well, and the suit was the appropriate material for the cut.
The next men’s fashion trend is wearing sneakers with a suit. Al Roker tried out this trend, and Bobbie Thomas said this is the easiest trend for guys to pull off. He looked pretty cool, in my opinion.
Today: Fall Out Boy Performance
Fall Out Boy has sold more than 9 million albums, have had three top 10 singles, and are starting their hot summer tour. The Grammy nominated band has been on the rock scene for over a decade and is known for their lyrics and combination of pop and punk.
Fall Out Boy took a four-year hiatus before releasing their album Save Rock and Roll, which debuted at number one on iTunes in 27 countries.
They first performed “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘Em Up.)” They sounded great, and Patrick Stump’s vocals were very strong.
Today Show: Fall Out Boy Tour with Paramore
Pete Wentz told Matt Lauer he can totally pull off the short suit look. The guys of Fall Out Boy had a concert the night before their Today Show performance until 11:00, and slept on the bus ride to the Today Show. Savannah Guthrie said this might be the biggest crowd they’ve had at the Toyota Concert Series all summer.
Pete Wentz said Patrick Stump has the oddest habits on the road, and rolls out of bed around 3:00 in the afternoon. They said they have a healthy competition with Paramore, who they’re touring with this summer. Pete Wentz said performing with a talented band like Paramore raises the standards for their own performances.
Next, Fall Out Boy performed their song “Young Volcanoes.” There were a few sound problems at first, but once those were worked out, the band sounded great.
