Today Show: Robin Thicke Performs Blurred Lines
Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” off his Blurred Lines album, has been at the top of the charts for seven weeks now, making the the undeniable smash hit of the summer. The bright instrumentation, upbeat tempos, and fun, if seductive, lyrics made it pretty clear why this was the case. Robin’s performance was great, getting as close as he could with the crowd without actually jumping right into it. His voice wasn’t bad, either!

Robin said that seeing “Blurred Lines” become such a success for him was a great feeling. He’s been making music since he was a kid, and he took a second to address the crowd and tell them that, if you keep working at it, your dreams of stardom can come true. I have to say, Robin seems like a pretty good guy that really wants to encourage people.

“Blurred Lines” has garnered a little bit of controversy since its release, with some people suggesting that the song objectifies women. However, Robin said that, when the song was written, the writers had nothing but the utmost respect for women. When they made the song, they were trying to be more funny than they were trying to objectify women, but Robin understood how some could think the joke went too far.
Today: Robin Thicke Performs Take It Easy On Me
After stopping to talk for a minute about the song and his album, Robin performed his song “Take It Easy On Me.” This song was a pretty big departure from the fiesta-influenced instrumentation of the last song and instead opted for something a little more grand. The thumping electronic beat and blazing synths wouldn’t be out of place in the clubs. All in all, it just felt bigger than “Blurred Lines.”
