Today Show: Martha Stewart Organized
Martha Stewart came by the Today Show to talk about how to get your kids organized. Martha Stewart is a grandmother so she’s got lots of tips for getting kids organized. She said that she felt that organization is the key for children.
Today Show: Martha Stewart Command Center
Martha Stewart said that it’s very important for your children to have a command center where they can put things on the wall or have little cubbies on the wall so that the children have a place to empty their backpack and keep their stuff organized. While their backpack is empty, you then have plenty of time to wash out the crumbs and spilled yogurt and whatever else might be in their backpack.
It doesn’t have to be an elaborate command center or even very much space in a room. Martha Stewart recommended getting a storage unit with cubby holes so that you can have a box for each child to keep their stuff in.
Today Show: Martha Stewart Individual Folders
Martha Stewart said that kids should also have individual folders for their homework so that they can keep organized and you know exactly how to help them each day.
Today Show: Martha Stewart Art Folder
Martha Stewart recommended starting an “art book” for your child, where you put their art work in a see-through sleeve in a binder so that your kid can flip through his or her work whenever they want to with ease.
Another option is to pin a string to your wall and pin the artwork onto the string with a clothes pin.
Today Show: Martha Stewart Dry Erase Boards & Cork Boards
Martha Stewart also recommended having a dry erase board or a cork board in the command center so you can pin a calendar and other things up there or write down important things.
Martha Stewart said that you can paint the cork board to make them look nice. Just paint right onto the cork board, so you can match it to your home or to your kids room.
