Self defense experts say the best thing you can do is to listen to your intuition. If you feel unsafe, you probably are. There are things that attackers look for in targets, such as using a cell phone and not paying attention to your surroundings. The experts recommend making a plan ahead of time. What would you do if you were attacked on the way to your car? Store the plan away from when you need it. Confidence is a deterrent and looking people in the eye sends the message, “I know what you look like now and I could pick you out of a line up.”
When someone comes at you, don’t be afraid to scream, kick and stomp to get them off. Twisting away and throwing them to the ground didn’t look hard, but a self defense class can give you the one-on-one feeling you want. Size is not a factor, just the situation.
