Kathie Lee & Hoda Ask Lou: Cabinet Transformations + Pour-N-Restore

Kathie Lee & Hoda: DIY Drain Pipe Fix

Lou Manfredini, host of House Smarts, helped viewers with their home re-do questions and problems on Kathie Lee & Hoda.

The first viewer shared that they were having a problem with the drain pipes and down spouts coming apart. Lou shared that there are parts that slide into each other and sometimes during rain storms, they will separate. He said to fix this problem, it’s as easy as putting in some self-tapping screws.

You can buy them at the hardware store, but you will need a drill to put them into you gutters. He said put your sections together and then drill the screw into them. Just one screw will hold them in place and they make colored screws to match the color of your gutters.

Kathie Lee & Hoda: Concrete Paver Stain Fix

Another viewer asked Lou how they can get oil stains off their driveway concrete pavers. Lou shared what he said was one of his favorite fixes.

He suggested using a powdered detergent like you use in the laundry, and put it on the stain and add a little water. Scrub the mixture into the stain and let it sit for a half hour then wash it away.

He said there are also products out there you can use, such as Pour-N-Restore. You can’t use it on asphalt, but it’s great for concrete. He said just pour it on the stain and let it sit for 24 hours. It will wick up the stain. Then scrape it away with a plastic putty knife. Seems simple enough!

Kathie Lee & Hoda: Kitchen Cabinet Re-Do

A third viewer shared that she wanted to paint her kitchen cabinets, but she wasn’t sure how to go about it because they are polyurethane.

Lou shared that she should use Cabinet Transformations by Rust-Oleum because the kit allows you to do some sanding, add color, and then add a glaze to your cabinets. He said the kit lets you end up with a great finish, because the shine makes all the difference. Plus, you can transform your cabinets in just one weekend!
