Today Show: 10,000 Pound Weight Loss Challenge
The Today Show is kicking off a 10,000 pound Weight Loss challenge. That is, viewers must lose 10,000 pounds (collectively) by the end of January. People can simply log onto the show’s homepage and see great tips and recipes on a daily basis to help them achieve their goals.
Joy Bauer of The Today Show joined co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on set for some great Advice to get started on the challenge. First, start out the day with a protein-rich breakfast (think: smoothie). Find a meaningful source of motivation — weigh in once a day or week, whichever is best for you — and set up a tracking system that allows for pats on the back and reinforcement.
Next up, eat on a schedule and eliminate the unnecessary liquid calories. By giving up one glass of fruit juice and soda each day for a month, you avoid consuming 17.5 cups of straight sugar. Wow!
For dinner, give up starch and don’t pack on the carbs after you’re already tired from a long day. Substitute meats and veggies for those unwanted carbs and see immediate gains.
Most importantly: exercise. Thirty minutes a day will do the trick, even if you have to break it up into 10-minute intervals.
Today Show: Hair Straightener Ear Guard
In Style Beauty Director Amy Synnott-D’Annibale dropped by the set to discuss solving makeup mishaps, from Avoiding Frizzy Hairlines to removing mascara from a white pillowcase.
A few quick tips: exfoliate your lips with a warm, wet wash cloth to remove unwanted lip gloss. Also, use ear guard to protect your ear lobes from unwanted burns while straightening your hair. Kathie Lee and Hoda tried a pair on, which created quite a stir from the audience. More great tips can be found below:
How To Remove Mascara From Pillowcase
Ever fall asleep on a white pillowcase with your make-up on? If you wake up to linens covered in mascara, simple cleaners usually don’t do the trick. Find an oil-based cleaner to remove the mess.
Also, before putting on mascara, it’s best to prep the eyelids with a primer to absorb the oils. Do this in the morning for best results.
Today Show: Toothbrush & Hairspray for Frizzy Hair
Who would have thought? A toothbrush solves those frizzy hairlines. Simply spray a little hairspray onto the toothbrush and place it all along the hairline and you’re good to go!
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Nail Polish Smudges
Ever smudge nail polish on your nails before they dry completely? Dab a finger in non-acetone remover to smooth out the smudge. The process looked pretty easy on set.
