Today Show: 2012 Washington Post Trends
The Washington Post released a list of topics trending up and down for 2012. Most of them left me pretty surprised, and I would be interested to see how they came up with this date. Check them out below:
Hoarding is out and cleaning in. When was hoarding in? Most New Years resolutions include some form of cleaning goal, so it seems like the idea of cleaning, at the very least, has always been in. What do you think?
Ryan Gosling of “The Notebook” is out, Michael Fassbender of “X-Men: First Class” is in. Again, I’m a little skeptical. Gosling has been churning out movies for a while now, and was recently in the well-reviewed movie “Drive”. Fassbender, to date, has been in the aforementioned X-Men movie and will be in a new movie called “Shame”. I would still take Ryan Gosling as the trendy actor in Hollywood.

Pippa Middleton’s rear end is out and her uterus is in. Yet another strange pick.
Complimentary Pickles
Complimentary bread is out and pickles are in. The Washington Post capped off their trends with one more odd pick. I have yet to see complimentary pickles at a restaurant. As with the other trends, leave your opinions in the comments section!

Today Show: Katie Perry & Russell Brand Divorce
Katie Perry and Russell Brand are separated, and Katie was at a News Years party talking to someone who looked strikingly like Russell. Russell, on the other hand, was in London having a much more sober time. Two big rumors exist about their breakup: she either asked him to file for divorce because her parents are religious and wanted her to, or he wanted kids and she didn’t. What do you think? Beyonce, contrary to rumors, did NOT have her baby over the holidays — although she is expecting any day now. She has kept her family affairs incredibly secret and spent time with her family in New Jersey over the holidays, after attending a party with Jay-Z in Brooklyn.
Today Show: Aretha Franklin Engagement
Aretha Franklin is engaged at 69 years old and can’t wait for her third marriage. The ceremonies will take place in Miami and the subsequent celebration will be on a yacht, due to her fear of flying.
Today Show: Britney Spears Wedding
Britney Spears and fiance Jason will get married this summer in Louisiana at a country themed wedding. They spent the New Year in New York City together, where Britney turned down numerous big-money invitations to appear at parties.
