Today Show: Kathie Lee On Access Hollywood
Kathie Lee and Hoda welcomed viewers with their usual bubbly demeanor and glasses of wine on their Thursday May 8th 2013 show. To begin their “Thirsty Thursday,” Kathie Lee and Hoda talked about Kathie Lee’s visit to Access Hollywood, where she met with Regis Philbin and joked around on set.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Speaking of Regis, Kathie Lee and Hoda stopped by his old show Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, now hosted by Meredith Vieira. Playing on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network, the ladies teamed up to win some cold hard cash for the charity, but not before Vieira playfully teased them about their drinking habits. After telling the women she could smell it on them, Kathie Lee insisted the smell wasn’t alcohol, but Brussels sprouts.
Today Show: Hoda Kotb’s Dog Blake
The subject then moved to Kathie Lee and Hoda’s furry friends. Blake is Hoda’s new pet dog, but apparently he’s a picky eater; he wouldn’t eat anything she gave him! She tried her best to encourage him by mimicking eating the dog food, but to no avail. So she did what any media-savvy woman in the technology age would do: she asked Facebook for some tips. Fans of Kathie Lee and Hoda gave lots of good advice, but the one that worked was to leave Blake the dog alone to his own devices. Kathie Lee reminded Hoda, “He’ll eat when he’s hungry.”
Today Show: Baseball Game Kiss Cam Drama
Kathie Lee and Hoda turned their attention to a hilarious kiss cam video that has made the rounds on social media. At a minor league baseball game, the kiss cam turned to a couple. The woman wanted to kiss for the camera, but her beau was too busy on the phone. After trying to convince him, the scorned woman dumped soda on his lap and walked out. The reaction from the audience was one of mixed surprise and entertainment. Kathie Lee, however, wasn’t too pleased: “That’s what you don’t do,” she said, and called the act “stadium rage.”
Abercrombie CEO: No XL for Women
Abercrombie CEO’s Mike Jefferies’s comments about the sizes his stores carry was a subject of hot discussion. Abercrombie does not carry women’s sizes larger than 10, to which Hoda pointed out that the average woman is a size 14. Kathie Lee said this wasn’t her only problem with the company: “The exploitation of young people in ads is my problem.” Both the hosts were very displeased by the comments of the CEO, and brought up his (heavily Botoxed) picture, asking why he, of anyone, should be commenting on people’s looks.
