Kathie Lee & Hoda: How To Gift Wrap Anything
Ever wonder how to wrap that oversized present? Luckily, gift guru Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, the editor-at-large of Southern Living Magazine, dropped by the set for some great Gift Wrapping Advice.
First and foremost, put your heart into wrapping. From a logistical standpoint, you want to disguise the gift’s shape to make the morning a little more fun. An example: use cardboard to cut out two equal, random shapes for something like a tennis racket, using the pieces as a sandwich to cover the gift up. You can choose any shape that’s larger than the gift itself, which will disguise what’s hiding inside.
For oversized gifts, use fabric or sheets. Sounds simple enough, but I can only imagine a child peeking underneath. Cardboard tubes are perfect for clothing or stuffed animals, Kimberly said, and the ends can be wrapped like a Tootsie Roll.
A few more tidbits of advice: used wired ribbons for that perfect bow and keep your empty wrapping tubes to wrap Christmas tree lights around after you take down the tree. No more jumbled mess of lights in a dusty box that takes hours to unwind during your next holiday setup.
Kimberly, the perfect organizer, also showcased a ribbon holder that uses cheap tension rods found at any hardware store. The rods can be attached to virtually any box-like container and finding that perfect ribbon is made quick and easy.
Today Show: Anil Kapoor “Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol”
The Today Show got a special treat when actor Anil Kapoor, most famous for “Slumdog Millionaire” and Season 8 of “24”, dropped by the set for a discussion about his new movie “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.” The movie is already in theaters and Kapoor plays a nasty man with a secret, who can only give up the goods with a bit of seduction – or so proclaimed Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. Kapoor was quick to disagree and stated he simply “goes about his billions” in the movie.
Kapoor credited the rest of the cast, especially Tom Cruise, and noted that the Hollywood superstar accompanied him around India during the film’s premier. Kapoor took Cruise to the Taj Mahal and other sites around India. Tom is incredibly fit and generous, according to Kapoor, and even brought his daughter to the set. Wife Katie Holmes also dropped by and apparently loved wearing heels, literally all the time!
Kapoor’s own family consists of two daughters who both act and a son who is an aspiring writer. Looks like his family is staying in the business. The interview ended on a light note with both co-hosts raving about the actor’s hair. He said that many directors want it changed for roles in the United States, much to the surprise of Kathie Lee and Hoda.
