Hotel Warning Signs With Anthony Melchiorri
Kathie Lee & Hoda welcomed Anthony Melchiorri, host of Travel Channel’s Hotel Impossible, for a discussion on hotel warning signs. What should you do if your hotel room isn’t quite what you expected? We’ve all been there, and it can be a truly frustrating scenario – it can even ruin your vacation. Thankfully, Anthony shared his expert advice on handling the situation the right way.
Often, hotels will advertise rooms online that don’t quite look the same in person. Even an expert like Anthony has experienced this every once in a while. In order to avoid this situation, he recommends that customers understand exactly what they want when it comes to price, area and level of service.
Anthony Melchiorri: How To Approach Front Desk
However, if you do need to make a complaint, Anthony suggests visiting the front desk in person – not over the phone. Approach kindly and address your concerns in a thoughtful way, even though you may be angry. If the person at the front desk can’t help you, ask to speak with a supervisor or general manager.
Anthony also suggests booking on the hotel site directly. He doesn’t recommend third party travel agents, because they aren’t as flexible, and can sometimes be more expensive. Try calling the hotel before you arrive and make a request, such as a higher floor room or a view. This way, the staff are prepared for your arrival, and you can anticipate the level of service they offer.
