Molly Ringwald: Except Sometimes Review
You know that Molly Ringwald is a former teen idol and talented actress, but did you know she’s also an accomplished singer? The daughter of a jazz musician, Molly has loved music all her life. Now, she’s releasing a cover album entitled Except Sometimes, an homage to the Great American Songbook. The collection features well-known jazz classics, but also some songs that are more obscure.
Molly Ringwald: Dad Bob Ringwald
Molly spoke with Kathie Lee & Hoda about the inspiration behind her new album. Molly’s dad, Bob Ringwald, is an accomplished jazz musician. He’s very proud of his daughter, and Molly called him “her biggest cheerleader.”
Molly included a cover of the song “Don’t You Forget About Me,” on the album, which was made famous by Molly’s classic 80s film The Breakfast Club. Molly recorded the song as a tribute to John Hughes, who passed away shortly before she recorded.
Molly Ringwald: Except Sometimes Tour
Molly will soon be hitting the road in support of Except Sometimes for an international tour. She’ll be traveling to places as far away as Australia and New Zealand. Tonight, she’ll be performing the first of two nights at New York’s Iridium Jazz Club.
Molly said that singing on stage feels similar to acting, but she prefers singing. “Of all the things that I do, it’s the most joyful,” she said.
Molly Ringwald: Three Children
Molly also reported that her three children are all doing great, and growing up fast. Her daughter, Matilda, is 9 1/2, and she also has 3 1/2-year-old twins. Kathie Lee suggested that Molly take Matilda to see Matilda the Musical on Broadway! Molly hopes to find some time for the show within her busy schedule.
