Kathie Lee & Hoda: Mary Higgins Clark Writes 44th Novel
Kathie Lee and Hoda invited the Queen of Suspense, Mary Higgins Clark, onto their show to talk about her newest novel, Daddy’s Gone a Hunting. This newest novel marks her 44th published novel since 1975 and her 32nd suspense/crime novel since the same time.
Clark told the co-hosts the book is about a 30-year-old woman who gets trapped in a complex fire along with a disgruntled employee. She said she got the inspiration for the novel from a news story years ago about a restaurant in New York City that was by her home in the city. She said she used to frequent the restaurant when she lived close to it. She said the building went up in flames one day and the owner moved the restaurant to another building where it went up in flames again. He moved it to a third location, where it went up in flames again.
Clrake seemed to be fascinated by an owner who could not get away from the fires, like they followed him everywhere he went. She said it really inspired her to write the novel.

Obviously, Clark is hoping the book is another best seller for her, joking that she would be upset if it wasn’t a best seller. Even if it doesn’t make it on the list, she still has a book she wrote last year on the best seller list.
As for her competition Danielle Steel, Clark said people are always stopping her on the street asking her if she is Danielle Steel. She might just start telling people she is. You can look for Clark’s book on bookshelves everywhere today and you might want to save a few extra dollars to buy her daughter’s newest novel, which will be released later this year.
