Kathie Lee & Hoda: How To Help A Talented Child Get Noticed

Kathie Lee & Hoda: How To Help A Talented Child Get Noticed

You may see some talent shows on TV and think that your kid can do that, too. If you think you have a talented child, Frontier Booking International Talent Agent Heather Finn would be the person to contact. Heather said that, if you’re going to do that, though, it’s the personality of an individual that sets a child apart.

It’s more than just the personality, though. They need to be able to show that to other people, and not just let it shine when they are home. Bob Cline, a TV and Film Independent Casting Director, added to that by saying that the kid needs confidence and a dash of humility, as well.

Kathie Lee & Hoda: Finding An Agent For Your Child

Kathie Lee & Hoda: How To Help A Talented Child Get Noticed

If you have a talented child, a good way to help get them noticed is to get them an agent.

The best first step to take when trying to get your kid a chance at stardom is to find an agent. Sending pictures into publications like Backstage and Call Sheet can help a lot. That will help them get noticed, which will then allow them to go out and starting getting auditions.

If you leaf through those publications, you can also find casting calls out there with descriptions of what they are looking for so that you can bring your child onto a show that they have a shot with.

Kathie Lee & Hoda: Parents Can Affect Success Of A Talented Child

Heather Finn said that people like her are not just looking at the kids, but the parents, as well. They are always watching closely for parents that are just dragging their kids to these casting calls because they are trying to live vicariously through them.

In fact, the parent could actually blow the child’s shot if they prove to be difficult. When working with children, you have to work with their parents as well, and if the parent is a nightmare, the agents will not want to work with them at all.

The last thing parents have to realize is that it has to be baby steps along the way. You may have to start out with low-paying, low-profile print ads before you can break into commercials, and then get more of them. Let each successful step build on another.
