Kathie Lee & Hoda: Duck Dynasty Season Four Preview
The cast of A&E’s Duck Dynasty came to Kathie Lee & Hoda to share some of their stories and talk about how they thought they would never be successful. You can’t blame the Robertson family for thinking that way, though. Who would have thought that a reality show about a duck-call-making family could gather over 10 million viewers to their show? That was the amount of people watching just the season three finale, so season four will be premiering tonight, August 14, to what is sure to be a good turnout.
In the Duck Dynasty season four premiere, the boys throw a surprise wedding in honor of their parents’ 49th wedding anniversary. In a small clip, two of the guys bickered back and forth about who was able to rock a suit and who just looked like an idiot wearing a suit. The banter was about what you would expect from them, so it looks like this season is already poised to be just as popular as the past seasons of the show.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: How The Duck Dynasty Started
Sitting down on the Kathie Lee & Hoda set were Phil, Willie, Jase, Jep, and Uncle Si, along with Jessica, Missy, Korie, and Kay. Phil wasted no time sharing his bewilderment as to how the show got as popular as it did. “Why would they be interested in rednecks like us?” he said.
Willie seemed to be the only guy that thought it was a good idea at the start. Being a businessman, Willie thought it would help promote their duck calls a little more. Given how odd the family is, he thought they made for great TV fodder.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Not Showering During Duck Hunting Season?
During duck hunting season, the guys have a time where they go without showering. Most of the boys only did it for a few days to get in the spirit of the season, but Phil goes the entire 60 days of duck hunting season without bathing. Missy said that she makes him wash his beard every so often over this period of time. Something that Phil wouldn’t ever admit to, but that he does do.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: The Beards Of Duck Dynasty
One of the most iconic pieces of imagery from Duck Dynasty are the beards that the men of the show sport. Despite the bushiness of the beards, the women all seemed to like them. One of the women said that the beard makes her feel safer. If they’re out to eat or at a movie late at night, no one is going to mess with a big guy sporting a beasty beard.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Adjusting To Duck Dynasty Fame
The family has had a bit of a hard time dealing with the attention they have gotten from the show. Uncle Si, for example, can’t even walk down the street anymore without getting mobbed. People are constantly showing up at their house. Si said that there was one time someone was knocking on his door just after midnight. He said that he wants to put up a fence around his house with a sign on it, warning people to stay away. To top it off, he also wants to get a big dog.
Phil doesn’t suffer any fools that would encroach on his land, saying that if you want to come around looking for trouble, his part of the state happens to play host to homesteads that have a lot of firearms lying around. Despite the way the threats may sound, Phil said he would rather have a Bible study with you. Faith plays a very big part in their family.
