You often see stories about child stars in the singing or acting world, but how often do you hear about a child preacher? Child preacher Samuel Green decided three years ago that preaching was what he has wanted to do, and now, at age eight, he is a veteran at the pulpit, drawing crowds looking for inspiration wherever he goes.

Samuel Green, along with his mother Joann Green and his mentor, Beverly Coleman, came on the show today and spoke about his unusual gift. When Samuel is onstage, he never worries about forgetting the Bible stories and never gets nervous because, as Samuel said, “I know God has my back.”

All of his sermons are about Bible stories, like the one about Job. He liked this story in particular because Job is a Bible character that got “double for his trouble.” Clearly, the pint-size preacher is all about stories showing us someone overcoming adversity.

Joann Green said that she was very surprised when she saw the Samuel’s inner preacher coming out. She and her husband were amazed to see him get up onstage and preach without any notes or rehearsing. They first realized this talent when Samuel was asked to preach in Birmingham, Alabama, and preached without any need for notes.

Samuel Green was brought to his mentor, Beverly Coleman, when he was 13 months old and still in preschool. Generally, Beverly doesn’t start teaching children until they are at least two, but by the time Samel reached 18 months of age, she knew he was academically gifted, as he was keeping right up with the three- and four-year-olds.

Samuel’s friends don’t think much of his preaching, reacting with indifference whenever he talks about it, but that hasn’t stopped him from setting pretty loft career aspirations for himself. When he grows up, Samuel said that he wants to be a preacher and a doctor that takes care of children.
