Jenny Craig: Gail Michaelson Weight Loss Results
Gail Michaelson used to be a compulsive eater. In college, Gail put on the freshman 15, and then some. After she graduated, she lived alone and worked a desk job, which led her to be even more sedentary, sitting on the couch and overeating on a regular basis. After awhile though, Gail was tired of weighing 272 pounds, and a picture of her at an Easter party pushed her over the edge. She soon called up Jenny Craig, and met with a consultant that taught her how to properly control portions.
Within 18 months, Gail had slimmed down to a size 6. Now, three years later, Gail is the fittest and most confident she has been in her entire life. She feels great after getting in a workout, and hopes that her story can motivate others to get off the couch, as well. She has lost 135 pounds in total.
Gail began her running exercising by walking and then slowly building her way up to running. Eventually, her friends convinced her to do a 5K, and she trained for that. It was a mix of motivation and the drive to actually make a change in her life. Now, she is happier and more fit than she has ever been.
Kathie Lee & Hoda: Portion Control Cooking for One
Today contributor Joy Bauer said that Gail’s Achilles heel was her cooking. Because she was living alone, she would put together a recipe that would yield four to six servings, then eat the entire thing by herself.
Now that she’s thin, Gail has mastered the art of controlling portions. Gail now makes recipes that yield several servings, but she stockpiles them in serving-size containers and stores them in the freezer. She saves extra meals for future nights.
