The Voice Season 4: Cáthia
One duo has made it through The Voice auditions so far. There were still more singers to hear from on the second night of The Voice premiere. Latin singer Cáthia is 19 from Bronx, New York. She’s studying music business and interning at a recording studio. Her mother came to America when she was 19 and started her own business. Cáthia said that her mother’s strength taught her to carry on in hard times.
In a first for this season, Cáthia sang in Spanish. “No Me Doy por Vencido” and had to emote harder throughout the song to get it across. Usher was the first judge to turn, followed by Shakira and then Blake. Shakira told Cáthia she is meant to be a global star and she has faith that she can make her a star. Cáthia was sold and went to Team Shakira. Usher said he should have paid more attention in Spanish class.
The Voice Auditions: Sarah Simmons
A music student from Memphis, Sarah Simmons, 22, said she was born to sing. It was a release for her during her parents’ divorce and got her through her father’s addictions. Her father is clean and sober now. The dean of Sarah’s music school allowed her to put a hold on college in order to compete on The Voice.
Sarah sang “One Of Us” by Joan Osborne. She got all four judges to turn for her. Adam said he was dying to have her incredible voice on his team. Shakira appealed to her gender and said she needed a female coach to get the most out of her voice. Usher was in love with Sarah’s conviction and Blake shouted and yelled for her to pick him. Sarah said afterward that she almost chose Team Blake, but she wanted to work more on rock with Team Adam.
Adam was thrilled to add Sarah’s voice to his team. He called her magic and the other judges pouted as she ran off stage.
