The View: Charles Esten “Sideshow”
From the ABC series Nashville, stars Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio performed on The View. As Rayna’s marriage falls apart, her songwriting partner is there for her to lean on. Charles Esten portrays Deacon on the show, and he took The View stage to perform the song “Sideshow.”
The country performance was great, especially in the atmosphere created for this special episode of The View. The audience was seated at intimate tables to reflect the real life Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, which is a featured location on the series.
The View: Charles Esten Music Vs Acting
Charles Esten has always enjoyed singing and music, but he is probably better known as an actor from projects like Big Love and The Office. He chose the acting path because of the chance for collaboration, as opposed to a more solitary music career.
In real life, Esten has been happily married for 21 years to his wife Patty. He also gave credit to Colin Linden, who plays many of Deacon’s guitar parts on the show, as well as the talented real life musicians who help make the show so great.
The View: Sam Palladio & Clare Bowen
More stars from the show, Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen, took to The View stage with a performance of “If I Didn’t Know Better.” Their voices together had an almost haunting quality. Do you have a favorite artist from the series Nashville? I want to know everyone’s picks in the comments section.
The View: Clare Bowen Nashville Audition
Apparently, Whoopi Goldberg thinks this is ‘a song you want to get pregnant to.’ In real life, Bowen is from Australia and was confounded by how the rain affected traffic in Los Angeles. She was two hours late for her audition, but she landed the part.
The View: Sam Palladio English Accent
Sam Palladio is an England native, but he auditioned from overseas via a webcam. He never set foot in the United States before starting to shoot the show. He was excited about the project, but he did not expect to get cast for the role.
The View: Jonathan Jackson Nashville
Co-star Jonathan Jackson was the next performance, and he sang “Twist Of Barbwire” for The View audience on their faux Bluebird Cafe set. The former General Hospital star collected five Daytime Emmys through the years, and now he is ready for primetime.
Jackson admitted that he has been playing and writing music since around age 12. He said that he has wanted to work with T-Bone Burnett, who is a producer with Nashville, so that is a dream come true for him.
He said that he likes the layered complexity of the show’s characters, like Avery, whom he plays. Guest host Jewel pointed out that the city of Nashville is home to alt-rock as well as its country roots. Jackson said his character will be exploring shifting genres of music on the show.
ABC’s Nashville airs on Wednesday nights.
