The View: Pamela Silva Wants To Report More On Immigration Reform
Pamela Silva co-hosted on The View today, and the cast took some time to tell us a little more about the Latino six-time Emmy Award winner. She anchors a newscast out of Florida, and Whoopi wondered if there were any stories that Pamela wished she could cover or wished got more coverage than they normally do.
The first area that Pamela wished received more attention was the immigration issues that is still a very touchy subject for Latinos. She wishes to break a lot of the stereotypes and misconceptions about Latinos and their culture because it is frustrating to see them misrepresented.
The View: Pamela Silva Credits Some Of Her Success To Her Mother
While many people say that Latinos will not contribute to America should they be let in more freely, she says that they are a very hard-working people that are willing to take a lot of jobs that many Americans wouldn’t.
Pamela loves America, and that you get to do things here that you would never dream possible in many other parts of the world. She gives a lot of thanks to her mother, Rosario, who came here three years ahead of Pamela to set up a life for her when she got over here.
The View: Angelina Jolie’s Double Mastectomy
The cast switched gears to Angelina Jolie, who recently underwent a double mastectomy as a preventative measure against breast cancer, of which she was at high risk of getting. In the wake of the media sensation that came from the surgery, a lot of doctors are coming out of the woodwork to put things in perspective.
They were all quick to say that a lot of Angelina Jolie’s operations are something that only a few people need. More than that, even, is that only a few even need to be tested for the BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 genes. All of that aside, it is all very expensive to undergo, so that can still stand in the way of even worthy candidates.
