Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth came by The View this morning to talk about their new ABC Family sitcom Mystery Girls, about two fading TV stars who were famous in the 90s for making a TV detective show who create a real-life private detective agency.
Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth posed for a selfie, so that viewers at home could take pictures with their television and look like they’re in a picture with the two ladies and then send them in.

Tori Spelling and ABC Family teamed up to make Mystery Girls. “In the entertainment industry, you can sit around and wait to get cast in something, or you can make it yourself,” Tori Spelling said. Tori said that the premise is a wink-wink to Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth being on Beverly Hills, 90210.

Jennie Garth said that even though the last time she worked with Tori Spelling was on Beverly Hills, 90210, she said it was like no time passed at all. She said the two women really support each other and share a similar vision for the show.
Tori Spelling said Jennie Garth is like her sister. Jennie said that they have fun on the show.

This is actually the third show that Tori Spelling has written. Tori Spelling said that people always think she can’t act because of who her father is and her station in life. So she’s always tried to put out her own shows.

Tori Spelling’s father is Aaron Spelling, the famous TV producer behind some of the most iconic shows on television. Tori Spelling said that the mystery part of the show comes from the tradition of Charlie’s Angels and Hart To Hart. Tori Spelling said the difference with this show is that girls are solving the mysteries in a funny way and in heels.
The View: Sherri Shepherd Beverly Hills, 90210
Sherri Shepherd said she actually auditioned for Beverly Hills, 90210 and met Tori Spelling’s dad and that he was one of the nicest men and he put her at ease. Sherri said she didn’t get the part. Jennie Garth wondered if it was for the part of Kelly. Sherri said it was a small part. “Yeah, they were bringing the black girl into 90210,” Sherri joked.

Then they rolled the clip of Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth on Beverly Hills, 90210. Bill Rancic, who was a guest co-host on the show, asked why Tori and Jennie thought they’d kept in touch all these years when other people on the show haven’t.
Tori said that they’ve had a true friendship ever since they were teenagers. Between them, Jennie and Tori have seven kids, who are growing up together.

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermitt very publicly had some problems in their relationship, which were documented on their reality show. Tori Spelling said that they’re working on their relationship.
