The View: Chris Powell Extreme Weight Loss Surprise
Last year on The View, Chris Powell from Extreme Weight Loss surprised a mother and son in the The View’s audience with the chance to spend a year losing weight and getting healthy on his show. Now, the episode with the mother and son is nearing closer and so Chris Powell came on The View to talk about their amazing transformation.
The View: Kathy And Josh Extreme Weight Loss
Kathy and Josh, the mother and son, had written to Chris Powell prior to their appearance on The View asking for his help. Chris Powell said that their story was a sad one. Right when Josh was born, Kathy and her husband separated. She was terrified of another man leaving her, so she developed a relationship with food instead. “Unfortunately, that spread to her baby, because she didn’t want him to leave, either. And so she fed him and fed him and fed him. And ultimately, he developed a food addiction as well,” Chris Powell said.
Kathy and John developed a codependent relationship, so Chris Powell also focused on giving him some distance from his mother over the course of the show. They rolled a clip and Kathy said the first workout scared her. In the clip, John also talked about filling the void of not having a dad with food.
The View: Exercise Vs. Diet
Sherri asked Chris Powell whether diet or exercise was harder to stick to. Chris said that exercise was the easy part. Diet is the hardest part, because there’s temptation everywhere and food makes you feel good. Chris also said that the people he works with are food addicts, so what he’s doing is really more rehabilitation.
The View: Chris Powell’s Wife Heidi
Chris Powell’s wife Heidi was in the audience and Jenny McCarthy asked her to stand up, because Heidi was in great shape. She’s had four children and she just had one of them just six months ago. Jenny McCarthy said they’re a beautiful couple. Chris Powell said that Heidi made his life easy and that she was his rock.
