The View: Katie Couric Manti Te’o Interview
It’s been about two weeks since Notre Dame linebacker came out saying he had been the center of an internet prank called catfishing. Catfish was coined after the documentary by Nev Schulman came out, describing when a person goes on the internet and pretends to be someone else in order to prank a person or take advantage of them.
In his interview, Couric said he was genuine and honest. She does not believe that he made up the story for sympathy, but he did admit to embellishing. Te’o let the story go on too long and he became wrapped up in the story.
A new twist in the story came when Te’o got a call from the person who pranked him and said that his fake girlfriend was not dead. Te’o was told she died of leukemia, but then the caller said she was alive and on the run from drug dealers.
