The View: Happily Divorced
Fran Drescher will have her hands full in the new season of her TV Land sitcom Happily Divorced, because she is working with TV legend Joan Collins. In a clip from the show, it appears that Joan is playing herself and get into an accident with Fran’s character.
The View: Fran Drescher Gay Ex-Husband
Happily Divorced is based in part on Fran Drescher’s personal life. She was married to a man for 20 years, and after they divorced, her ex-husband came out as gay. She had no idea that he was gay, and they had been high school sweethearts.
She said she felt guilty for leaving their marriage when she had a midlife crisis, and was relieved when he found a boyfriend. Now they are working together again as producers on Happily Divorced.

Fran Drescher said it’s therapeutic to work through their past together on the show, and it helps ground the stories in some authenticity. She said they both had interesting journeys later in life and some of those experiences play out in the scripts. The couple also worked together on The Nanny, Fran’s ‘90s sitcom.
The View: Joan Collins Happily Divorced
As for Joan Collins, she is mixing things up in the cast. But Sherri Shepherd wondered if her new character is anything like Alexis Carrington, the iconic Dynasty role from the 1980s. She admitted that she is playing an exaggerated version of herself.
Apparently Joan does her own hair and makeup, and even picks up her own groceries at the store. She shops at Gelson’s in Los Angeles, where there are plenty of other celebrities one might bump into.
The View: Joan Collins Husband Percy
Joan Collins and her producer husband Percy have been married for 11 years. There are 32 years between them, and this is Joan’s fifth marriage. “What made this one work?” Barbara wondered.
Collins said he is kind and amazing, taking care of her and watching out for her three children and three grandchildren. However, he is the same age as her son, which has to be awkward. She said she is “very, very lucky.” See more from the interview.

Whoopi Goldberg asked Joan about her friendship with the late Larry Hagman. The two starred in a movie called Three in the Cellar, where they played a couple in politics. They’d known one another for years, since they’d dated when Joan was 16 years old. She recalled that he was very shy.

What about Fran’s love life? She is back on the dating scene. She described her ideal man as “sexy, single, successful, smart and straight.” She has also recently lost 15 pounds.
Fran Drescher is supporting a bipartisan legislative bill and won’t rule out a political career as a next act following her series. Happily Divorced kicks off a new season November 28 2012 on TV Land.
