The Talk: Distracted Driving & Necklace Giveaway
The Talk team and guest co-host Lisa Vanderpump tackled another controversial news item: should eating while driving be outlawed? It could happen sooner than you might think. Plus, check out The Talk’s Helen Ficalora Charm Necklace review.
The Talk: Eating When Driving
One South Dakota town is taking distracted driving seriously with a new law banning eating while driving. Texting and driving is already banned there, and officials hope to cut down on distractions and accidents.
Is it distracting to eat while driving? Sheryl Underwood doesn’t think so, and she brought along some snacks to prove it. I can see both sides: no one wants to be in an accident, but where does this end? Are lawmakers going to ban driving while listening to the radio? Watch the ladies talk this one out.
Sheryl chowed down on popcorn, chicken, and pizza while manipulating a fake steering wheel and a drink helmet. Aisha Tyler said she is now afraid to drive around Sheryl ever again.
The Talk: Distracted Driving Law
Julie Chen said she gets where the law is coming from. Anytime you have something competing for your concentration or attention, you could put yourself and others at risk. Lisa Vanderpump wondered whether the proposed $15 fine would really be effective.
Sara Gilbert can’t believe it’s legal to eat and drive, but she said it makes her hypervigilant to multitask behind the wheel. She thinks she is a worse driver when she is just driving.
Lisa Vanderpump suggested slowing down to take time to enjoy your meal instead of fitting it in on your way to somewhere else.
