The Talk: Lindy DeKoven Primetime Princess
Inspired by Lindy DeKoven’s journey from secretary to big time broadcast executive, Primetime Princess is about Alexa and her struggle to hold her own against her horrific boss. Everything was going great, she was the head of one of the biggest television networks, then her misogynistic ex-boss is hired to work for her.
DeKoven writes about a lot of scandal, so perhaps some of them are real. She said that the story is inspired by people she’s encountered and she has colleagues freaking out to see if it’s them. Like a good author, DeKoven isn’t telling.
George Clooney in Primetime Princess
The only person she can spill secrets about is George Clooney. He is actually a character in her book and she worked with him in real life. As a movie executive, Lindy DeKoven was trying to cast him in a film. Clooney hadn’t done ER yet, so it wasn’t hard to get a hold of him.
Lindy DeKoven’s Career in Hollywood
Lindy DeKoven worked on shows like Laverne & Shirley and Happy Days when she was starting out. Her first job was as a secretary and typist for CBS Sports, a job she believes she got because of her “bodacious boobies.” She one day found out about the beautiful world of network programming and knew she wanted to be there. She set up a meeting with the head of the network, but instead of offering her a job, he offered her a date. And so began Lindy DeKoven’s career in Hollywood.
