Dr. Phil McGraw stopped by The Talk February 4 2013 to talk about his show, which has been renewed through 2017, and his new book, Life Code: The New Rules For Winning In The Real World.
Dr. Phil said he has a huge problem with tell-all books. He said that if you were in love or in business with someone, it’s not okay to betray that trust and write a book giving away all their secrets. He said there was a huge difference between writing an autobiography about the things you yourself did and writing about what other people did.

He said if you are going to write about other people, get their permission.
Dr. Phil: Manti Te’o & Ronaiah Tuiasosopo Hoax
Dr. Phil got the first ever interview with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man behind the hoax that pretended to be a woman and Manti Te’o’s girlfriend. Julie Chen asked Dr. Phil if he believed that Manti Te’o knew nothing about the hoax.
Dr. Phil said it was important to remember that both men are young. Dr. Phil said that Manti Te’o was gullible and naive and that he didn’t think he knew anything about it. Dr. Phil said he might’ve also known about it before he came out publicly with the information, but the reason for that is because his team was headed towards a National Championship and he might not have known if the new information was real.

Sara Gilbert asked Dr. Phil what made him decide to write his new book. He said he was looking at all the things the successful people do and their commonalities and decided to write about it.
He said he is more excited about this book than any book he’s ever done.
The Talk: Dr. Phil Show Soccer Mom Madam
Dr. Phil’s show has been renewed through 2017. Dr. Phil said that he didn’t think he was attractive when the show began, but in 2017, he’ll look like “an old catcher’s mitt.”
On today’s show, the so-called “Soccer Mom Madam” will be on and rumor has it she’s going to name names. She stands accused of running a $15 million a year prostitution ring. Dr. Phil said that she told the press before his interview with her that she was going to name names that would shock the NFL to the highest levels, both players and management. He said since she did that, he’s received calls from players, lawyers and management.

Dr. Phil was hit in the eye by his opponent in tennis and got a shiner. Julie Chen gave him a football helmet and told him that the next time he plays tennis, he should wear it.
