The Talk: Tyler Perry Too Darn Hot Party
Writer, producer, and director Tyler Perry came by The Talk to discuss his new movie The Single Moms Club. Tyler Perry recently had a Too Darn Hot Party that celebrated his partnership with Oprah and her network OWN. Aisha Tyler, Sheryl Underwood, and Sara Gilbert were all there.
Tyler Perry said he invited all of the ladies, but not all the ladies could make it. Mary J. Blige performed and Aisha Tyler said she sang along to every song. Sheryl Underwood claimed that Stevie Wonder “saw” her because he waved at her and said her name.
Oprah wouldn’t let Tyler Perry throw her a 60th birthday so Tyler just surprised her with a birthday cake.
The Talk: Tyler Perry Essence Black Men In Hollywood

Tyler Perry also recently hosted the Essence Black Men In Hollywood celebration, where he was honored that night alongside Spike Lee, Sidney Pointier, Steve McQueen, Lee Daniels, and Malcolm Lee. He said it was great and he was proud of the Academy, because it was the 75th anniversary of Hattie McDaniel winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Gone with the Wind.
When she was honored that night, she wasn’t even allowed to sit up from front, she had to sit in the back. She was the first black person to win an Academy Award. So Tyler Perry said we’ve really come a long way. He also said he wished we could get to the point where they didn’t need a Black Men In Hollywood party.
The Talk: Tyler Perry Sitting Next To Spike Lee
Tyler Perry said that since it was his party, he wanted to sit next to Spike Lee. Sheryl Underwood asked him what they talked about because they allegedly didn’t get along. Tyler Perry joked that it was time for a break.
Tyler Perry said that Spike Lee and him have strong ideas and opinions about what they do and they both have fans that love what they do. But he said there’s plenty of room for them both.
The Talk: Tyler Perry Single Moms Club Review
Tyler Perry’s new movie is called The Single Moms Club, which is about women worrying about how to raise their kids by themselves and introducing them to strange men. Tyler Perry said the movie is about five women whose children all go to the same school and they get in trouble. The women get together to help their children and realize they’re all single moms, so they decide to make a club. Tyler Perry said it’s important for single moms to get together to support each other.
Sara Gilbert joked that she was going to drop off her kids at Julie’s house and Julie said she was going to drop her kids at Tyler’s house. Tyler said she didn’t want Madea dealing with her kids.
The Talk: Tyler Perry Hot Seat Questions
Tyler Perry then played a game called Tyler Talk where he answered a series of burning questions. The first question was who was his teenage crush. He said Tyra Banks. Who would play Tyler Perry in a movie? Tyler joked whether they meant him or Madea. He eventually settled on a young Denzel Washington.
Who does he want to work with? He said Charlize Theron. “Rarely do you meet a woman who is that stunning,” he said. Tyler Perry overcame his fear of flying by getting a pilot’s license. What else is he afraid of? He said divorce.
“You give your heart and soul to someone and you think ‘I’m gonna love you forever and you’re gonna love me forever’ and then it doesn’t work out and then you have to go through dividing up everything and figuring it out and fighting and as hard as I’ve worked, I’m not sharing jack with anyone,” he said.
He added that he’s going to get over his fear of divorce by not getting married.
