The Talk ladies began the discussion with what happened on CNN last week. Joan Rivers was being interviewed on CNN in a live interview and walked off the set after the journalist asked her several questions about her style of humor. Joan Rivers said she hasn’t heard anything from CNN since then.
“I felt like Flavor Flav walking into Donald Sterling’s house,” she joked. The new book Diary of a Mad Diva is a comedy book. She said it was an interrogation and she felt like she was at the “Nuremberg trials.” Joan Rivers said she had never done that in her 50 year career.
“It is surprising sometimes when you intend something as a joke and people take you seriously. Does that ever surprise you?” she was asked.
“All the time. My wedding night. I came out of the bathroom and he just laughed and laughed,” Joan Rivers joked.
The Talk: Joan Rivers Obama Comments
Joan Rivers recently came under fire for joking that President Barack Obama was gay. Joan Rivers said that she was coming out of doing a show at 11 p.m. and someone asked her what she thought of having a gay person in the White House. She responded that we already have one.
“Which is not so. If Obama were gay, Obamacare would cover lube,” Joan River joked.
The Talk: Joan Rivers Relationships with Former President
Joan Rivers also talks about the former presidents she’s supposedly been intimate with over the years in the new book. These presidents, not surprisingly, are people she probably also never really met. She said it was Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Abe Lincoln. Joan Rivers said that Abe Lincoln was gay and that he was the first one to ever say, “You go, girl!”
The Talk: Joan Rivers Daughter
Joan Rivers’ daughter Melissa Rivers gave Joan a diary for Christmas and told her to write down her funny thoughts. So this whole new book is just silly thoughts.
Sharon Osborne asked if Joan was a strict parent and Joan didn’t really answer the question. Firs she said that Sharon was a great mother. Then Joan said that her own mother tried to have her aborted when she was 12.
Joan and her grandson are going on a vacation to Venice and Rome for one week. Every year, the two of them travel together for one week.
