The Doctors TV Show did a segment called How the #17 Will Change Your Life. The Drs (Dr Andrew Ordon, Dr Travis Stork, Dr Jim Sears and Dr Lisa Masterson) brought on Mike Moreno, author of The 17 Day Diet (you can read the recap of what Mike Moreno said about his diet plan here: 17 Day Diet). Then after the segment explaining how to do the diet, they brought Alice Reitveld onto The Drs TV Show to teach us how to do the perfect 17 Minute Workout.
The Drs: The 17 Minute Workout
Alice Reitveld said that the nice thing about The 17 Minute Workout is that you set the pace and intensity yourself. So when you feel ready to move up to the next level, then you can, but you are never forced to quickly. The first move that Dr Travis Stork and Dr Lisa Masterson demonstrated works on the abs and obliques. To do this move, bend your arms at the elbow and hold your forearms straight up in the air. Then move your hips to the left and to the right while doing the same thing with your arms.
The next move that Alice Reitveld demonstrated was called Standing Crunches. If you hold your hands together out in front of you, and you lift your knees up towards your hands, then you are working out your core. You can intensify this by lifting your arms up higher and picking your knees up higher. Your core is important to keep in shape because it prevents injury and it helps you to have a good back and posture.
The 17 Minute Workout is made up of three 17 minute workouts for total body conditioning. Exercise is crucial to your health, but you do not have to go to the gym – you can do it at home with Reitveld’s help!
This is a great program and workout but one suggestion might be to make a “senior” version of your workouts. I am 61 and couldn’t hardly keep up with the instructors. Too fast for us older ladies….especially those that haven’t worked out lately.
