The Drs: Hawaiian Chicken Burgers
Food blogger Danielle Walker was excited to share her healthier take on delicious barbecue recipes with The Doctors. She shared her recipe for homemade barbecue sauce as well as her healthier take on fish tacos with salsa. Next, she shared a recipe for Hawaiian chicken burgers, explaining that she chose to use ground chicken rather than ground beef, for a healthier version of the barbecue staple. She explained that you can use light or dark meat, but the dark meat will be a little higher in calories and fat, although more flavorful.

The Drs: Hawaiian Chicken Burgers Recipe Ingredients
Burger Ingredients
- 1 tbsp coconut aminos
- 2 cloves garlic – minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
- 6 fresh pineapple rings
- 2 lb ground chicken
- 2 tsp cold-pressed sesame oil
- 1 tsp garlic – peeled & minced
- 3/4 tsp sesame seeds
- 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
- romaine or butter lettuce leaves – for serving
Sauce Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic – minced
- 3/4 tsp fresh lime juice
- dash of hot sauce
- 1/4 C mayonnaise
- 2 tsp cold-pressed sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp ginger – peeled & minced
The Drs: Hawaiian Chicken Burgers Recipe Directions
- Mix all burger ingredients together except for the pineapple & form into approximately 6 patties
- Mix sauce ingredients together & refrigerate until you’re ready to use it
- Heat a grill or grill pan to medium heat & grill burger until cooked through
- Grill pineapple rings for one minute on each side & then put a ring on top of each burger
- Serve burger between 2 pieces of lettuce & top with sauce & whatever fixings you like (tomatoes, onions, etc.)
