The Doctors: Master Chef Junior Jimmy Healthier Pizzas
At just 14-years-old, Jimmy Warshawsky appeared on Master Chef Junior, shining a light on his incredible culinary talents. He joined The Doctors to share three guilt-free recipes to satisfy your pizza craving! Jimmy said healthy doesn’t have to mean gross and first revealed mini pepperoni eggplant pizzas. The crust is a slice of eggplant with the water rendered out. The slices are topped with sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni. Eggplant can help prevent brain cell death.
Next, Jimmy shared his zucchini pizzas, which were made using grated zucchini as the crust, topped with goat cheese, chicken sausage, fresh basil, and caramelized onions. The Doctors: Sweet Potato Crust Hawaiian Pizza Recipe Ingredients
For the Crust:
- 1 C almond flour
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 2-3 medium sweet potatoes (enough to make 1 C mashed potatoes)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
For the Toppings:
- 1/2 C mozzarella cheese – shreded
- 1/2 C Canadian bacon or cooked ham – sliced or chopped
- 1/2 C pizza sauce
- 1/2 C pineapple – diced
The Doctors Sweet Potato Crust Hawaiian Pizza Recipe Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
- Peel and cut sweet potatoes into quarters, then add to the boiling water and turn down to a simmer
- Boil for 20 minutes
- Drain the potatoes from the water and mash well in a large mixing bowl
- Add one C of sweet potato mash, almond flour, Italian seasoning, baking soda, and salt to a large bowl
- Knead well with your hands until the ball looks like orange pizza dough
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and press out to a large circle about 1/2-inch thick
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until the edges of the dough are lightly browned
- Remove the pizza from the oven and top with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, pineapple and ham or Canadian bacon
- Broil for 3-5 minutes or until cheese is melted
- Serve hot and enjoy
